Journal of Jewish Education’s Inaugural Article of the Year Award

We are delighted to announce that the winner of the Journal of Jewish Education’s inaugural Article of the Year (2017) Award is Ziva Hassenfeld. Mazel Tov!
Ziva’s article, Teaching Sacred Texts in the Classroom: The Pedagogy of Transmission and the Pedagogy of Interpretive Facilitation that appeared in Volume 83, Issue 4. The Selection Committee appreciated its presentation of a unique treatment of the teaching of sacred text in an original and inspiring way that offers the promise to meaningfully shape the ways sacred texts are taught, not only in the Jewish community but also in other faith communities. The research demonstrated intellectual rigor. appropriate research methods and cogent arguments.
The Selection Committee is comprised of Ofra Backenroth (Chair), Hanan Alexander, Helen Friedus and Wendy Rosov. The award of $1000 will be presented at the upcoming NJRE conference at George Washington University.
